READY to SERVE - A Story of Nurses in World War One

READY TO SERVE

June1917   Nurses of Johns Hopkins Base Hospital 18
Prior to boarding USS Finland  in New York
Over There.

Ready to Serve  is my new show of Women's WWI Service in the Military

This story is drawn from the experiences of Maryland nurses who served in France -
1917 - 1919, with the Johns Hopkins Base Hospital 18.

Base Hospital 18 sailed from New York in June 1917 with the convoy transporting THE FIRST American Troops
to France.
I have created a monologue from their letters  to give life to the nurses' little known experiences.

While caring for serious battle injuries and the damages
of deadly gas, they faced unexpected personal discomforts and relentless harsh weather,
but they kept their spirits up by encouraging each other and their patients with laughter and warm friendship.
